Technical Trainee @ City of Toronto
Summer 2025
During my Summer 2025 Co-op with the City of Toronto’s Solid Waste Management Services, I worked with the Facilities and Equipment Maintenance team supporting transfer stations and landfill operations. My role involved improving maintenance workflows, validating and organizing asset data in IBM Maximo, and assisting in preventive maintenance planning. Through this experience, I gained practical insight into large-scale municipal operations, technical documentation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration within an engineering environment.
Key Contributions
Asset Management Optimization
Improved asset organization and data accuracy within IBM Maximo by validating records, aligning location hierarchies, and integrating spare parts. These updates enhanced preventive maintenance tracking and supported more reliable equipment management across transfer stations.
Preventive Maintenance & Workflow Development
Worked with engineers to refine preventive maintenance procedures and streamline equipment workflows. Assisted in developing maintenance schedules, technical documentation, and data tracking methods to improve operational efficiency and system reliability.
Field Engineering & Site Inspections
Joined engineers and technicians on site visits to transfer stations and landfill facilities to assess equipment conditions and maintenance practices. Gained practical insight into field operations, safety standards, and the coordination involved in managing large-scale infrastructure.
