Hey, I’m Vishwa.
I’m a Mechanical Engineering student driven by innovation and a passion for creating impactful designs. I’m inspired by performance-driven systems that push boundaries and turn technical ideas into real-world impact.
I’m Vishwa Sivapalan, a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Toronto specializing in Solid Mechanics, Design, and Mechatronics. I’m passionate about automotive engineering and performance-driven design, where innovation and precision come together to create meaningful solutions. My experience includes a Co-op with the City of Toronto and involvement with UofT Formula Racing and UofT Supermileage, where I help design and develop high-performance and ultra-efficient vehicles.
About Me
City of Toronto
Technical Trainee (Engineering Co-op)
Worked with engineers to improve maintenance workflows and optimize asset management in IBM Maximo. Gained hands-on experience in technical analysis, process mapping, and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience
UofT Supermileage (UTSM)
Aerostructural Team Member
Part of the aerostructural team responsible for designing the vehicle’s aerobody for a battery-electric prototype competing in the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas. Focused on optimizing aerodynamic efficiency and structural integrity.
UofT Formula Racing (UTFR)
Aerodynamics Team Member
Contribute to the aerodynamic development of a Formula-style race car, including the design and analysis of aerodynamic components to enhance downforce and reduce drag.
Internal Combustion Engine Design Study
Modeled a detailed internal combustion engine in SOLIDWORKS and performed structural and thermal analyses in ANSYS, integrating simulation with 3D-printed prototyping.
Projects
Advanced CNC Router Design Project
Led the conceptual design of a hobbyist-grade CNC router, developing detailed 3D CAD models and exploring mechanical mechanisms, precision, and manufacturability.
Bicycle Stations Corrosion Mitigation Initiative
Collaborated with industry partners to develop and test a corrosion prevention solution for public bike infrastructure, improving durability and reliability through innovative design.
Hart House Theatre Accessibility Redesign
Directed the redesign of accessible entrances for Hart House Theatre, applying CAD and mechanical design principles to deliver inclusive, practical engineering solutions.
